Nagpur: Devendra Fadnavis Attends COVID Widow’s Wedding

Nagpur: In a deeply emotional ceremony in Nagpur, Preeti Akare, who lost her husband during the COVID-19 pandemic, began a new chapter of her life by remarrying Shivamsingh Thakur. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the wedding and blessed the couple.

The wedding was held at Rani Laxmi Auditorium in Laxmi Nagar, Nagpur, on Thursday morning. The ceremony was attended by family members and well-wishers, with Fadnavis present on the occasion.

Preeti had lost her first husband during the COVID-19 pandemic and was left to raise her two children. During the difficult period, her family received support from then Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis and former BJP MLA Sandeep Joshi, who had taken responsibility for supporting several families affected by the pandemic.

According to reports, Shivamsingh Thakur had been supporting Preeti as she rebuilt her life after the loss of her husband. He encouraged her to continue her education, helped her pursue pharmaceutical training and supported her efforts to find employment.

Over time, their relationship developed through mutual understanding and support. Shivamsingh also accepted Preeti’s two children and agreed to build a family with them.

The remarriage therefore marked more than just a wedding ceremony. For Preeti, it represented a new beginning after the personal tragedy she faced during the pandemic.

Fadnavis’s presence at the ceremony also brought back memories of the support extended to families during the COVID-19 crisis. Preeti reportedly became emotional while expressing gratitude for the assistance she and her children had received during one of the most difficult periods of their lives.

The wedding has drawn attention in Nagpur as an example of rebuilding life after loss, with the couple beginning their journey together with the blessings of family, friends and well-wishers.
