Nagpur : A 34-year-old man was allegedly stabbed after refusing to give money for liquor to two acquaintances in the Imamwada police station area late on Sunday night. Police have arrested both the accused, who allegedly assaulted the victim and attempted to rob him before attacking him with a knife.
The incident took place near the Nag Temple in Indira Nagar, Jattarodi No. 2.
According to police, Sudarshan Shambharkar (34) was standing near the temple when two men identified as Shubham Shekhar Tayde alias ‘Circuit’ and Nayan Manoj Chavre approached him and demanded money to purchase liquor.
When Sudarshan refused, the accused allegedly picked up a quarrel and attempted to forcibly remove cash from his pocket. They then allegedly assaulted him with fists and kicks before one of them stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife with the intention of causing fatal injuries.
The injured man was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for treatment.
Based on the victim’s complaint, Imamwada police registered a case of attempt to murder and other relevant offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Both the accused have been arrested.
Police said the arrested men have previous criminal records. Further investigation is underway.
