A family’s early morning journey to Tirupati took a horrifying turn when two bike-borne men stalked and attacked them outside their house last week. They harassed the woman, and one of them chased down the vehicle, threatened to kill her 46-year-old husband, and slashed his right hand with a knife before fleeing with his accomplice.
Devarajeevanahalli police swung into action and arrested the attacker, identified as Prithvi Raj, 21, and are investigating the role of his friend in the case.
According to the complaint filed by Suma (name changed), a senior executive at an insurance company, she lives with her husband Kishore (name changed), 46, and their two children. Kishore works as a cabin assistant for an airline at Kempegowda International Airport.
The incident occurred around 6.45am on Aug 4, 2026, when the family was loading their luggage into their car outside their residence before leaving for Tirupati. At that time, two men arrived on a two-wheeler and brushed against the complainant in a provocative manner. When Kishore objected to them and asked whether they couldn’t ride carefully, the duo initially moved away without any argument.
However, moments later, as the family drove away from their house, the same two men were waiting for the couple and staring at them. When Kishore questioned their behaviour, the accused got into an argument.
In a fit of rage, one of the accused, Raj, pulled out a knife, attacked Kishore on his right hand while he was seated in the driver’s seat. He then attempted to stab him again, but Kishore quickly rolled up the car window, preventing the assault.
During the attack, Raj’s friend encouraged him to kill the victim on the spot. After exchanging a few words, both suspects fled the scene on their two-wheeler.
A senior police officer said a case has been registered under Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty). Raj has confessed that he lives in the same area and had a dispute over familial issues in the past, so he picked a quarrel with them and attacked Kishore.
