BENGALURU: A 26-year-old homemaker was detained for questioning after her husband and four-year-old son were found dead under mysterious circumstances at their residence in Chikkabanavara in northwest Bengaluru on Monday morning.
The woman, Harini, called the police control room around 7am and reported that her husband, Abhinandan, 35, and their son were lying motionless on the bed. Police personnel who rushed to the house found both of them dead.
During the preliminary investigation, police suspected that the father and son had been smothered to death.
“There is no sign of forced entry into the house. The CCTV was switched off after 10pm on Sunday. Harini has deleted her call history, messages and photos from her mobile phone. Moreover, she has been giving contradictory statements about the deaths,” a senior police officer said.
Police are questioning Harini to establish the sequence of events and determine her possible role in the deaths. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination, and investigators are awaiting the report to ascertain the exact cause of death.
