Nagpur: Hotel manager attacked with wooden rafter during row over abuse; accused held

Nagpur: A dispute allegedly triggered by verbal abuse turned violent in Nagpur’s Kapil Nagar area when a hotel manager was attacked with a wooden centring rafter, leaving him seriously injured.

The incident occurred on Saturday night near Sangam Lodge at Lendhe Nagar Naka No. 2. The accused, identified as Arif Abdul Hai, has been arrested by the Kapil Nagar Police.

According to police, Nilesh Dhoke, 25, had been working as a hotel manager for around two-and-a-half years. At the time of the incident, Arif was reportedly having tea at a roadside paan stall near the hotel.

Police said Nilesh, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, approached Arif and began abusing him. When Arif questioned him about the reason for the abuse, an argument broke out between the two.

The altercation reportedly escalated when Arif allegedly picked up a wooden centring rafter and attacked Nilesh repeatedly, striking him on the head and legs. Nilesh suffered serious injuries in the assault.

He was initially taken to Mayo Hospital and later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for further treatment, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Based on a complaint lodged by the hotel operator, Kapil Nagar Police registered a case and arrested Arif. Further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and circumstances leading to the attack.
