The investigation following the recovery of a mobile phone from former MP Prajwal Revanna’s cell in Central Prison has intensified, with two more jail officials suspended Tuesday.

The suspension of jailer Rajesh Dharmatti and warder Mahesh Sajjan followed a similar action against assistant superintendent Iranna Rangapur earlier.

Deputy inspector-general (DIG), prisons, Jinendra Khanagavi, instructed the assistant superintendent to keep a close watch on Prajwal and ensure he wore the prescribed prison uniform. He also said that all staff should follow rules and that no one should be given any exemption.

Bengaluru: A special court for elected representatives has directed the Hassan Lokayukta wing to initiate an investigation against former BJP MLA Preetam Gowda. The directive follows allegations that the former lawmaker failed to accurately disclose his assets in his election affidavit in 2018 and 2024.

The directive was made based on the complaint filed by one BP Sandeep. Directing the issuance of summons to Preetam Gowda, special judge KB Shivaprasad adjourned the matter to Oct 22.
