Rahul Ratnam Pandey reviews major water supply, UGD and infrastructure works across Mangaluru; stresses uninterrupted drinking water supply and adherence to timelines
Mangaluru: Commissioner of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Rahul Ratnam Pandey on Thursday directed officials to complete the 125 MLD Water Treatment Plant (WTP) being constructed by KUIDFC at Adyar within the stipulated timeframe and maintain high-quality standards.
During a citywide inspection of major drinking water, underground drainage (UGD) and infrastructure works, Pandey reviewed the progress of the 125 MLD WTP at Adyar, the Thumbe Dam, the Thumbe WTP, the Bendoorwell WTP, the ongoing UGD work on Karavali Circle-Pumpwell Road, and the culvert construction near City Hospital.
Reviewing the progress of the new WTP at Adyar, he sought details from officials on the current stage of work, technical aspects and the expected completion schedule.
At the Thumbe Dam and treatment plant, the commissioner reviewed the city’s drinking water supply system, water availability and the efficiency of the pumping system. He directed officials to take necessary precautionary measures to ensure there is no disruption in drinking water supply.
During his inspection of the Bendoorwell water treatment plant, Pandey instructed officials to closely monitor the purification process and plant maintenance to ensure the supply of high-quality drinking water.
He also directed officials to complete the UGD work on Pumpwell Road within the prescribed timeframe and ensure proper restoration of the road surface after completion.
Regarding the culvert construction near City Hospital, he instructed officials to prioritise quality, ensure smooth flow of rainwater and maintain public safety.
“Providing excellent service to the public is the primary priority of the city corporation. Complete the city’s drinking water, underground drainage, and infrastructure projects within the set timeframe and with high quality,” he told officials.
Naresh P Shenoy, deputy commissioner (development) of the MCC, KUIDFC officials and project contractors were present during the inspection.
