Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) inspected Clarence High School in Richards Town Monday after a

TOI

report highlighted fever, cold, cough and other influenza-like symptoms among a large number of students and staff.

The team, comprising health officials from BNCC’s Pulikeshinagar range and state health department, found that two teachers were suffering from flu. Both were treated as outpatients and one has resumed duty.

Following the inspection, BNCC issued a notice to the school seeking details of suspected or confirmed cases, dates of onset, and medical test reports. It also sought a written explanation on the number of cases reported, medical evidence available and whether the health department was informed before the information was communicated.

The civic body directed the school management to promptly report suspected outbreaks to health authorities for verification and surveillance, and ensure health-related communication is based on verified information. A BNCC release said active surveillance would continue at the school for 15 days. It conducted a flu-awareness programme for students, parents, teachers and management.
